Namsai, February 12: The 18th Scientific Advisory Committee (DAC) meeting organized by the
Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Namsai was attended by experts and stakeholders to chart a course of action for enhancing agricultural situation and practices in the district.
Followed by the welcome address and action taken report presentation by Senior Scientist and Head,
KVK Namsai, the Subject Matter Specialists (SMSs) across various disciplines presented their annual progress report showcasing major achievements in
technology testing, demonstration, farmers’s trainings and extension activities. Annual Action Plans for Namsai district for 2026-27 focusing on crop management,
income enhancement, climate resilient technologies, were also presented for discussion among stakeholders.
Key suggestions offered during the meeting included increased focus on interventions suitable to changing climate,
development of value chain and entrepreneurship, development of a farmer friendly technology booklet including technologies which have been tested and found promising
in the district for distribution to state departments and farmers. Identification of pressing issues in agriculture and testing of location suitable solutions and their
spread in a convergence mode along with preservation of indigenous varieties were some of the proposals arrived at after thorough discussion.
The meeting was chaired by Dr. G Kadirvel, Director, ATARI Guwahati, Mr. C. R. Khampa, Deputy Commissioner, Namsai as
chief guest and Dr. Doni Jini, Head of Regional Centre, ICAR-RC NEH AP Centre, Basar as co-chairman. The meeting was also attended by Mr. Kamal Roy, AGM, NABARD, officials
and representatives of state department of Agriculture, Horticulture, Veterinary, Fishery, Women and Child Development, Project Director ATMA, Arunachal Pradesh State Rural
Livelihood Mission, Spice Board Office and progressive farmers.
The meeting concluded with appreciation of contribution of KVK Namsai and their collaborative efforts alongside line departments
to improve the farming situation and socio-economic condition of farmers of Namsai. KVK committed to implement the suggestions and revisions in its final plans.
